Doagh Famine Village and Visitor Centre

Number one on our list of local attractions is Doagh Famine Village and Visitor Centre, its located just down the road from the oul cottage. This is a Museum like no other, telling the story of life in Ireland from the Great Famine of the 1840's when our cottage was built through until the present day. 

Offering interactive guided tours, usually guided by Pat, the owner, catering to everyone from small groups to coach loads. They are also completely wheelchair accessible and have a recently constructed café and tea room. The museum offers a complete view of life in Ireland ranging from eviction scene, orange hall, republican safe house, to an authentic Irish wake house and on some occasions poitin tasting. During the winter months the famine village turns into Donegal's Lapland offering exciting Christmas themed shows for adults and kids alike. Check out Santas workshop and toy factory, his snow plough and reindeers, see Santa's House and how Mrs Claus watches over the Sleeping Elves.
